We went before lunch rush hours. Dishes were fantastic and portions were large. Excellent food. The setup is very traditional like eateries in Taiwan - everything was self-serve and no A/C. Despite that, this will be one of our favorite spots.

Decided to try this local Taiwanese restaurant for a quick lunch. Items came out one by one, a little slow but things were made fresh to order so I didn't mind! Fried chicken over rice was the best item we got! Great size, crispy, flavorful. The eggplant and potato sides weren't that great though. The minced beef and egg noodles was good, the broth was just ok. The fried stinky tofu was good, freshly fried and comes with some pickled veges. The strawberry milk is huge, nice and refreshing! Overall nice local restaurant with good combos and Taiwanese food!

Wonderful food. Just got back from TW Sunday and came here on Tue and was hooked. Went 4 times this week, that sure will tell you how good it was. Tried majority of their daily combos and all were very tastful and close to TW food stalls. TW food are very hard to find in LA now and most are just not close enough in taste. At Yumi you don't really second guess yourself. The soups, tea, all dishes are all great.

One of my favorite Taiwanese spots in the 626. They only open from 11am to 3pm so you gotta get here earlier. It's one of my favorite places for pork hock cause the fat part is braised so well and cooked for a long time it's super soft and chewy. Other places it will be too hard sometimes. I also love how they offer a combo where they give you a soup, side, and black tea which alot of other places don't offer. A little gem in the area. Would highly recommend

4+ a small, cozy Taiwanese cafe located in a corner of a strip mall. The folks here are very friendly and helpful. Came here for lunch on a workday and was able to get a seat right away after ordering. (You order at the counter). There are lunch specials of what I assume to be Taiwanese classics. I ordered the Taiwanese style noodle soup with stewed egg which came with a small side. I got the steamed bamboo and iced tea. Food is served in disposable eat-ware and there's a bar where you pick up your utensils. The food itself was warm and comforting, especially on a cold day. I definitely would like to try some other items like the rice plates with chicken or pork here. The decor is fun. Not sure if they purposely went for an old Americana vibe or look with vintage items and fun artwork or if some items were salvaged from the area or previous occupant (the entire area/ strip mall has sort of an old-timey vibe to it) or a combination of both. But it was a fun spot. Pretty convenient location from where I am working right now and the parking situation is easy since there's a large lot dedicated to this strip mall.

A wholesome Taiwanese spot serving up cozy Taiwanese meals and dishes that make you miss your trips to Taiwan. You order at the counter and take a seat at any available tables. When you're finished with your meal, you are responsible for filtering your trash by food waste and trash. They have a lot of offerings on their menu so it can definitely be intimidating but if you're a first timer, I would definitely stick to what fellow Yelpers recommend first and then branch out to something different. I personally like ordering from their lunch special menus because depending on which one you order, it can come with a small cold dish or a side of soup and black or green tea. The complimentary items are not meant to be amazing, it should rather compliment your meal. It's not the tastiest Taiwanese food that I've had and honestly some items are probably better than the others, but it hits the spot when you're craving it. They also don't seem to turn on the A/C so I would recommend not coming here when it's super hot. Take your order to go or stop by when the weather is cooler. Just note that they are closed on Mondays and are only open for a limited time from 11am - 3pm from Tuesday through Sunday. The last call for orders is 30 minutes before closing. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Gale Ave. and Turnball Canyon Road. -Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking || F O O D || D#13 Popcorn Chicken - Holy guacamole they give you so much! I love that they aren't shy with the basil because what makes Taiwanese popcorn chicken so fragrant is when you fry it with enough basil. The seasoning is on point, I love that I don't have to rely on sauces to get some flavor. They use dark meat here which is my preference. D#14 Fried Stinky Tofu - I was so excited to learn that they had Taiwanese stinky tofu. It's such a classic dish. The kimchi was good but the portions of the stinky tofu were quite sad. It's priced at the same point as the popcorn chicken, so I didn't get this again when I visited the 2nd time. D#16 Fried Pork Chitterlings - If you love intestines, then this is definitely worth trying. I think they braise the intestines and then fry it. Super crispy and the portion was decent. Fried Chicken Steak - They also offer this as one of their set meals, but I had already set my eyes on ordering the Braised Pork Rice so I just ordered this as a side. Again, the portions are super generous and the batter of the chicken steak was chef's kiss. Soooo crispy, I wish some fried chicken spots could take some notes on this. #1 House Braised Pork with Rice - This particular lunch set is priced at $15.50 and it comes with a selection of a cold dish, soup and tea. Note that only lunch sets come with the option to add a cold dish (select from D#1 - D#5). This seems like a simple dish but surprisingly not a lot of restaurants can make it authentic. I thought it was pretty authentic and I liked how they were very generous with the braised pork and sauce. It was a heft portion and I got like 2-3 meals out of it. #10 Taiwanese Style Stew Pork Shank Rice - I didn't get to try this but my dad really enjoyed it and both times that I've been to Yumi Time, he's always requested to order this. He's very picky with his Taiwanese food so I take this as a good sign that it's delicious! #12 Red Grain Pork Rice - This one was okay. I think if you're really craving this, Monja Taiker is the spot to hit up. The portions of the pork were generous though. #14 Taiwanese Style Squid Soup with Noodles - this was such a comforting noodle soup. The broth was tasty and it reminded me of the ones I would get in Taiwan. #19 Fried Pork Chop Rice - This one was okay too, nothing too special but it filled up my tummy when I was super hungry.

Expect to be self-served. Once seated and provided menus, you are to go up and order/pay. Water and utensils are also in the front to grab. The place also only uses fan, and since I went during summer it was pretty hot without AC. The food seem like authentic Taiwanese food. I saw the front of the menu which included a lot of different combos to choose from but I realized I should've ordered from the back where it's just individual entrees without sides or a drink. The combos include a side to choose and black or green tea. The food was good but a bit too oily to my liking. I ordered the beef stew noodle and asked for less spicy but it was still a bit spicy and filled with oil. I also tried the fried chicken, but I had to dab it on a napkin since it was too oily. Flavors were great , and the chicken was huge! Everything was served in disposable or to-go containers. This helps them greatly with not needing to wash dishes. We're also required to throw our finished meals to the bins ourselves, which are separated by compost and trash. The restaurant has a large specious parking lot shared with other small businesses and a supermarket. So no issues with parking!

I was craving for some Taiwanese fried chicken chop rice so my friend recommended this spot- it's tucked in in a random plaza where you do not expect to find an authentic taiwanese restaurant. The restaurant is not fancy but it's vintage and homey. Super casual- you order first and seat yourself. They serve food in takeout containers (heard that they started it since covid, due to staffing shortage) and the utensils and water are self serve. Very convenient. They have excellent lunch combo options- lots of varieties and the combos come with soup, drinks (green or black tea), and sometimes side dishes. We dined in but saw a lot of people coming by to pick up their takeout. They also have a frozen food menu. Great Taiwanese food spot!
